Background
The Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) is an emerging description of mental disorders with a stronger empirical base than DSM5 or ICD11. HiTOP may also have greater clinical utility than current approaches. A research agenda building to widespread clinical implementation has been outlined. However mental health services are complex systems that differ across jurisdictions. Implementation of evidence-based practices has been inconsistent and difficult. Implementation science may deliver better implementation though enhanced understanding of barriers and strategies to avoid them.
